flaws

whenever i am in a horrible mood i feel the need to bring others down with me. i'm bitchy, i pick unnecessary fights...

i need to work on that.

Ughhh

one thing i cannot STAND is when people flake on you.

like when you have plans to go out at 11 and you text them at 1030 to see what their status is and they tell you they don't feel like going out.

it's even more annoying when you're nannying and don't know anyone else in the area so there are no back up plans or friends and you've been having zero fun for seven days straight and all you want is a little time to go chill and relax.

ughhhhhhhhh. that's all i have to say about that.

yayyy free time

finally some time off!

i've been going nonstop since last friday night and it is exhausting. my word of advice: never have three children. or better yet, if you do, try this little old fashioned trick with them to make your life much easier: discipline.

i think spoiled parents = spoiled children. if you are a normal mom with 3 children they need to stay in line and listen to you because mom has other things to get done.

however if you are a UES mom, you can always get around making your kids listen because you have someone else to pick up the slack. they don't need to pick up their toys cos the housekeeper will take care of it.  they don't learn how to behave in a grocery store because the nanny will always stay home with them.

but anyway, parental psychology is NOT the point of this post. the point is i FINALLY have some free time to myself and i am going to treasure these next two days like you wouldn't believe.

why does mary rambin feel the need to document her colonic on her blog?

(and, more importantly, why am i reading it???)

going (blogging) crazy!

i haven't really gotten into this whole blogging thing yet but all the sudden i can't stop! i'm sure it has something to do with the fact that i don't really talk to people over 5 all day so i'm trying to get all my "grown up" thoughts out now.

my pretty useless thoughts on technology

so firefox 3 was just released a few days ago...i've played around with it a little bit and there's some new stuff thats really cool...but i recently just found out about flock (at alanataylor.com i believe - she was a classmate of mine and i occasionally read her blog because it's really interesting cos she's way up on this web 2.0 stuff and im soooooooo not...)

and flock is way cool. basically it just puts everything in one spot. i have both my facebook and twitter accounts set up in a sidebar so i can check that without even logging on to all the different sites. (and maybe this will force me to get into twitter a little more - i've tried but so far haven't been successful! if you're on twitter find me! @emilysnyder)

it also keeps track of my email in the toolbar...supercool! and i'm not too technology smart so i'm sure there's a million more things that it can do...i'll just have to figure it out!

you'd think......

you'd think that people with multiple multi-million dollar homes could spring for a nicer pull out couch (which is what im sleeping on)...just a thought!

(ps get my pun? SPRING? as in the thousand of springs that are poking into back as i try to lie down and relax???)

it's a glamorous life...right?

so here i am - out in the hamptons doing the whole nannying thing for OVERpriviledged UES children who have no concept of the meaning of the word "no."

it's actually pretty snazzy up in here though - big house minutes away from multiple beaches and a sweet pool in the back yard...if only i could keep the 5 year old from karate chopping his brother and sister maybe i could get to work on my tan.

my room is pretty sweet - flat screen tv plus my own bathroom and seperate dressing area, it's sad to think i have more space to myself here than i do at my own house, or even my dorm this past year.

but i guess such is the park ave lifestyle.

summer jobs

this summer, i decided not to go the route that most of my friends took. while they're all doing their meaningful internships and working in offices that in some way relate to their majors, i decided that i was not quite done with my high school job. and that's how i ended up being a cashier at best buy for the THIRD summer in a row.

i'll admit it, the reason i keep going back to this job is because they make it so easy and i love not having to learn anything new. i know what i'm doing and feel comfortable there, and the thought of spending my summer, the three months a year students from kindergarten to college switch their brains to "off", learning new things and having to (gasp!) think about what i'm doing is just sooooooo unappealing.

i figure this is the last time in my life where i can get away with having a meaningless, easy, boring job, so i might as well enjoy it while i can.

are YOU ready?!?!?!

who is pumped for the sex and the city movie? it's just over 48 hours til i get carrie'd away...

do people think the movie is going to do well? i feel like it could go two ways:
1. have a crazy good opening weekend where all the diehards come out to see it those first few days, but doesn't do well following weekends because everyone else is kinda over s&tc and is sick of their seemingly nonstop press junket that has been going on for weeks
OR
2. it will do really well!! women (& gay men!) love sex and the city, and since the show went off air, nothing has really come close to taking its place, and a s&tc movie will satisfy that craving.

it really is truly remarkable that s&tc has been gone for so long but no other show has been able to replicate it - recent attempts this fall like "cashmere mafia" and "lipstick jungle" fell way short. there's just something about the relatable-ness of carrie, miranda, charlotte, and samantha that i think is impossible to duplicate.

i don't think our girls will let us down with this flick.

spotted!!

Spotted: s and d making their way down 51st between park and madison...looks like these lovebirds are back to their old ways.
you know you love me - xoxo gossip girl

so i don't know about you, but it seems that all my friends have a crazy obsession with gossip girl! ill admit it, i'm slightly hooked myself.

i spotted serena and dan (don't know their real names..hmmm) walking today...and about a block after i passed them there were crazy amounts of trailers and crew members outside a building so i'm guessing they were filming there!

a little introduction

i thought a little introduction into who i am would be appropriate...don't worry i'm not going to give my life story, the thought of that even bores ME

some essentials:
1. i'm a 20 year old student at nyu. i'm double majoring in journalism and politics and minoring in french. sometimes i love it and sometimes i wish i could drop out and go to tisch (the school of the arts) and take classes like feelings, voice lessons, and yoga like my roommates. but most of the time i love it.

2. while i love new york, i will never forget where i'm from - BOSTON. boston fans are the greatest fans in the world and even when i've been away for months it still welcomes me and feels like home

3. i hate capital letters unless i'm doing IT FOR EMPHASIS.

4. i love animals. especially puppies. those aspca commericials on tv make me cry.

5. i love music. i know its so cliche to say "i like everything!" but let's just say i like a lot of things from all across the board. like classic rock, techno, pop, reggaeton, hip hop, rap, indie rock...the only two genres i don't like are country (but honestly who does?) and r&b...too whiny for me.

6. i use ellipses too often, probably because a period seems so final and i'm never sure if i've actually finished that thought.

7 . i strongly believe in 8 hours of sleep a night - even if it means skipping my morning classes more often than i should.

8. i have an unhealthy obsession with sarah jessica parker and all things sex & the city.

9. i wish michael bloomberg would run for president.

8. i am constantly trying to lose 5lbs (like every other girl i know) but i have a problem because i like food A LOT more than i like exercising.
